Why You Feel Overwhelmed in Your Business (And What Actually Helps) | Episode 38

There are moments in business when it feels like everything is asking for your attention at the same time. You have ideas you want to execute, responsibilities you need to manage, and expectations you feel you need to meet. It is not just your business either. There is family, your health, your personal life, all moving alongside it.

And on top of that, there is this quiet pressure underneath everything. The need to earn, to make things work, to prove to yourself that this path you chose is going somewhere. Especially when this is your full-time business, it can feel like there is no fallback, so the thought becomes: “You need to move, you need to make this work.”

But instead of moving forward, you might notice the opposite happening. You sit down, your mind is full, and yet nothing really starts. It can feel like you are thinking about everything, but not actually doing anything.

When Everything Lives in Your Head

If you slow it down, there is usually a pattern underneath that experience. Your mind starts running through everything at once. Thoughts about income, growth, and whether you are doing enough start mixing with all the tasks in front of you, like content, clients, follow-ups, admin, and learning new things.

It all feels important, and it all feels urgent. But because everything is there at the same time, there is no clear starting point. And when there is no clear starting point, it becomes harder to move.

It is not that you do not want to act. It is just that it feels too big. Too heavy. Too much to carry all at once.

The Weight You Do Not Always Notice

What often goes unnoticed is how this affects you over time. When you keep sitting in that space where everything feels heavy and nothing moves, something starts to shift internally.

You might notice thoughts creeping in, questioning your progress or your ability. It can sound like you are not moving fast enough or that maybe you are not cut out for this. And that does not just stay in your head. It starts to affect your energy too.

There are moments when even simple tasks feel heavier than they actually are. And when that becomes your normal, it can quietly slow down your business, not because you lack ability, but because of the weight you are carrying while trying to move forward.

When Even Good Plans Feel Heavy

I have experienced this in my own way. I love planning. I love writing things down, creating vision boards, mapping out goals, even thinking about the kind of impact I want to create.

And honestly, it is beautiful. It is inspiring.

But at the same time, when I look at everything I need to do to get there, it can feel like a lot. It can feel far. And there are moments when I just sit there thinking, where do I even begin?

Making Space Before Moving

The shift for me did not come from becoming more productive or adding more structure. It came from realizing that I do not need to carry everything in my head at the same time.

Because when my mind is full, it feels crowded. And when it is crowded, I cannot see clearly. I cannot decide properly. I cannot move.

So I started with something simple. I give myself space to clear my mind, even for a short moment. Just enough to feel like there is room again to think.

Not to solve everything, but just to settle.

Coming Back to What Is Here

From there, I bring my attention back to the present. Not replaying past mistakes, and not rushing ahead to a future where everything is already figured out.

Just now.

Because when you are too focused on the past or too far into the future, it becomes harder to act on what is actually in front of you. And so the question becomes simpler.

What is needed now?

Not everything. Not later. Just now.

Starting Smaller Than You Think

Then I focus on the first step. Not the whole plan, not the full strategy, just the smallest step I can take.

Because if you are honest about it, the hardest part is usually starting. And when the starting point feels too big, that is where the resistance comes from.

So I make it easy. Simple. Low resistance.

Even something as small as opening a document or asking one question. One minute is enough. It may seem small, but it changes something.

When Movement Becomes Natural

Once I start, it becomes easier to continue. The heaviness is not as strong anymore. It does not feel as overwhelming.

And this is where something shifts. It is no longer about forcing yourself to work. You are already in it, so continuing feels more natural.

This is also where I started doing something that made a big difference. I celebrate even the smallest step. I acknowledge it. I let myself feel that I moved.

Because a lot of us delay that feeling. We tell ourselves we will feel good when we reach the goal, when everything works out.

But that could take months, even years. And in the process, you forget what it feels like to enjoy what you are doing.

Letting Progress Feel Good Again

When you allow small steps to feel meaningful, something changes. You feel a sense of progress, even in the middle of the journey.

And when something feels good, you naturally want to do it again.

So instead of pushing yourself all the time, you begin to move forward with less resistance. There is more ease in how you show up, more consistency in how you work.

A Different Way of Moving Forward

Over time, this creates a different experience. You are still building your business, still working toward your goals, but it does not feel as heavy.

Your energy becomes more stable. Your focus becomes clearer. Your decisions feel simpler because you are no longer trying to hold everything at once.

And that changes how you move. You are not stuck in your head as much. You are able to execute what is in front of you.

Coming Back to One Step

So if you have been feeling overwhelmed, it might help to pause and notice what you are carrying in your mind.

Are you trying to hold everything at once?

Or can you come back to now and take one small step?

Because you do not need to figure everything out today. You do not need to carry the whole journey at once.

Moving Forward, One Step at a Time

And if you want to go deeper into this, especially if you notice that this pattern keeps showing up, there is a way to understand what is really happening underneath it and how to interrupt it more easily.

The 7-Day Mental Fitness Challenge was created to help you uncover the mental patterns driving that overwhelm and to help you shift out of it faster. So instead of trying to manage everything on the surface, you can start addressing what is creating the weight in the first place, and move forward without feeling stuck.

You do not need to do everything today. You just need to do what is needed now, and start with one small step. That is enough.
